A Message from Principal Mary Sepler Jan. 31st. 2019

Dear Lowell Family,

You may remember that last year, Lowell created an Author’s Celebration Day in which each student in our school enjoyed several different writing instructional sessions from a variety of teachers.  Feedback after this event was very positive and, as a teaching staff, we had unanimous approval to try something again this year.

This year, in remembrance of Elena Enos, we would like to have a Celebration of Art.  Elena, in addition to being a paraeducator in our school, was also a community artist.  She passed away this fall.  The vision for this day is to invite community artists to join our staff in facilitating a variety of artist workshops.  If you are interested in helping to coordinate and facilitate this special day, please contact me as soon as possible.  We would really appreciate your help in making this a reality this spring for our students.

We’ve had new arrivals in the Lowell hallway! Salmon eggs were deposited in the gravel of our tank, and now, the eggs are hatching into tiny larvae called sac fry or alevin. The alevin have a sac containing the remainder of the yolk, and they stay hidden in the gravel for a few days while they feed on the yolk.  It’s an exciting time to be observing our tank.  Be sure to ask your child about it.

Rumor has it that snow is in the air. Please review the district’s snow procedures just in case.  If we’re ready, we’ll probably never need it.
