Lowell leadership update

Dear Lowell families,

I hope this message finds you healthy and happy!

I am writing to let you know I will be retiring at the end of this school year. It has been an honor to work in Bellingham Public Schools and in this community. Lowell Elementary School has provided rich professional opportunities for me and many beautiful connections.  I will miss you all.

My decision was made long before this COVID reality hit and, I must say, what a reality to have as a principal in your last school year. I think life wants to make sure I stay highly engaged and learning right to the last day of duty. That is exactly my intention. I am looking forward to engaging and working until summer as we have much work to do together. I look forward to supporting a safe return to in-person learning for all our students and will continue to do my best to support the goals of The Bellingham Promise.

Superintendent Greg Baker will organize a process through which my replacement will be identified. Input from Lowell families will certainly play a role, and our district will communicate opportunities for giving input soon.

Be well and thank you for all you have done to support our school.

Sincerely,

Mary Sepler
