Lowell principal update

A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear Lowell families,

I want to share a leadership update with you. During a staff meeting today, we announced Sarah Walker has been named Lowell Elementary School’s new principal beginning next school year. Many of you may remember Ms. Walker from her time as Dean of Students at Lowell.

Sarah Walker has been selected as Lowell Elementary School’s new principal. Ms. Walker has been a dean of students at both Lowell and Happy Valley elementaries and is currently the assistant principal of Cordata Elementary School. A former middle school science teacher, Ms. Walker also has experience as a differentiation specialist and a teacher on special assignment supporting science and students identified as highly capable learners. Ms. Walker has her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, her master’s degree from Western Washington University, and her administrative credential from the University of Washington. A community-focused and collaborative leader, Sarah’s core values are data-driven instruction, equity, and community development.

I would like to thank the interview team, which consisted of parents and staff. We had outstanding candidates, and it was a thorough process that included gathering input from Lowell families and staff about their desired characteristics in a new principal.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Walker on her new position and wishing principal Mary Sepler all the best in her new adventures in retirement.

Greg Baker
